NRA Basic Pistol Course

The NRA Basic Pistol course is a well known, nationally recognized handgun safety course.  This course meets the handgun safety training requirements to obtain your Concealed Firearms Permit not only in the State of Maine, but in many other states as well.  The NRA Basic Pistol course is also a prerequisite to take the NRA Personal Protection in the Home course.

This course includes both indoor classroom and outdoor range time.   Students will learn to shoot revolvers and semi-automatic pistols, as well as the NRA’s rules for safe gun handling; pistol parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; range rules; maintenance; and continued opportunities for skill development.  Students will receive the NRA Guide to the Basics of Pistol Shooting handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet, take a Basics of Pistol Shooting Student Examination, and course completion certificate.  

This class provides you with the best seat in the house - yours!  Class work will be conducted remotely.  Details will be sent upon registration.  

All range work will be conducted at private range facilities located in Easton, Maine.  

• Eye and ear protection (ear protection will be available)
• Your handgun (please leave in your vehicle – for range use only)
• 100-200 rounds of ammunition 
• Snacks or drinks
• Appropriate clothing for the outdoor range session
• A good attitude and a willingness to learn

There are a limited number of participant slots available in each session, so please register early.  We'll contact you to confirm your registration in the class and provide additional information.  

This course will not be publicly advertised on the NRA's website.
